The Renters’ Rights Act 2026 came into force on 1st May 2026 this provides local authorities with new duties and a range of new powers to investigate and enforce under the act.
Legal Experience Training will provide those exercising these powers with key skills to carry out lawful entry onto business and residential properties, ask for production or seize evidence and interview witnesses and suspects. It is vital that officers know what evidence to capture and how to capture it to ensure the weight, reliability, credibility and continuity of evidence. Officers will be shown what evidence needs to be recorded, how to write statements to prove the elements of the offences/breaches and how to interview witnesses and relevant suspects. This will provide the necessary evidence for enforcement or prosecution and secure the best sentencing outcomes.
Many officers will already have received training on the duties and powers in the Renters’ Rights Act 2026. This training will build their knowledge, practical skills and confidence to enable officers to put their new powers into practice in the field. The training will be based on a rolling case study concerning concerning mould in the property, harassment of tenants, an unlawful Notice Seeking Possession by the landlord and illegal eviction. Delegates will navigate the challenges of applying their new powers in a dynamic real-life scenario.
We offer 1, 2 and 3 days courses to build the skills necessary to implement Renters’ Rights Act 2026.
